Day one of orientation has come and gone, and come and gone, and come and gone...or at least that's how it felt. By the time we finally went home it felt like a week had passed.
Some things:
People watching was interesting but less than spectacular and no where near as good as it ever was in SoCal.
To the twitchy guy: You really need to try and relax a little. The first two hours in the theater...your eyes darting this way, then that...I expected armed gunmen to burst in and shoot you down. Seriously man, try some decaf or some weed - slow it down a little.
To the girl who wore the inappropriately short/tight clothing: Don't. Ever. I mean it. Eww.
To the guy who stopped us all from leaving at the end of a very long day when we had already stood up and gathered our things to leave: First, don't preface your comment with "I hate to be that guy. I usually hate that guy." Next, if what you have to say is worth keeping me from a long overdue trip home, then it better fucking blow my mind. It better really be worth it. It better be unlike what it was tonight. Last, everybody hates you. No they don't, but they will so take a break.
To the girl who was down to earth and funny and not at all wrapped up in the strutting craziness: Thanks. Law school needs more people like you.
To the girl who spoke up in the Moot Court Room today: You might not want to do that again.
I can't believe how many times (yes I can) that I heard people rattle off their resumes. I went to a better undergrad than you. I built your undergrad. I invented undergrad. I aced the LSAT. I wrote the LSAT. I am the LSAT. My girlfriend is in med school. My girlfriend is already a doctor...on Mars. I did your girlfriend...on Mars...twice. I took the LSAT on Mars. I created Mars and with what I had leftover, I created your girlfriend...and then I did her...on Mars...thrice...while doing the LSAT telepathically.
I am now in possession of a parking pass (which I received for the low low price of $50), a carrel (with key), a free law school T-shirt (and water bottle) and a user name/password for the law school network. I am fully matriculated and I still don't know how to find the bathroom.
Reading Update: I finished Chapter 1 of Torts. I own it.
You sure are hard-core in your descriptions...you'll make a great lawyer. :)

Ha, great post. (Coderkan from Nontrad). Our first day of orientation is tomorrow and I suspect it will be similar to yours. Good luck!

WTF?? I had my first night of class last night. I didn't see anywhere in your descriptions about the older-than-average student who comes prepared, reading ahead of time, and asking all the boring questions so she won't be surprised in 8 weeks. Oh, was that you, too? Although, I only have one class right now, and, after all, it is HISTORY. Nothing cool, like LAW or anything. Maybe next week I'll try being neurotic guy that twitches. Sounds like fun!

Rita - you're in school!! Good. I was going to say "Finally!", but that seemed rude. :) History is a great subject, you should embrace it. What kind of history? I wish I could trade places with you.
